Unlike last March’s unclaimed $325,000 Cash 5 Lottery ticket, the winner of a March 28, 2014 Cash 5 lottery ticket has come forward.
Both tickets were sold at the Hometown Mini Mart.
Employees of the store said they have been in touch with the latest winning ticket holder, but say that the Pennsylvania lottery hasn’t officially released the names of the two winners who won the Cash 5 lottery that day. The other March 28, 2014 winning Cash 5 ticket was sold at Kim’s Market, 501 N. Sixth St, in Allentown.
Both tickets matched all five balls (8-19-33-39-40) – each receiving individual prizes of $225,000, minus 25 percent federal withholding.
Each retailer will receive a $500 selling bonus.
No one ever claimed a $325,000 Cash 5 ticket sold at the same store on March 10 of last year. The Pennsylvania State Lottery gives Cash 5 winners a year to claim their prizes. Since a year has passed, the winnings went back to the state.
Prizes must be claimed and the tickets validated before the winners can be identified by state lottery officials.
All proceeds from the Pennsylvania Lottery are allocated to senior citizen programs.
