Members of the Tamaqua Middle School and High School Drama Club presented their comedy remake of “The Ugly Duckling”, called ”Honk”, on Friday (March, 21, 2014) and Saturday (March 22, 2014) at the Tamaqua Area School District Auditorium.
Tamaqua Drama Club Director and English teacher Adriane Drum said over 70 students from grades 7 to 12 were involved; to include performers, stage crews, band and so on. Assistant Director was Erika Cassell.
Both Drum and Cassell state their continued appreciation to a number of dedicated helpers. Some mentioned were Laura Makuta – who did costumes and makeup, Kim Woodward’s middle school art class and their parents – who helped with the set design, and student Jillian Franko – who organized the graphic design work.
Cost for the show is $8 per student and $10 for adults.
In addition to the show, there were games in lobby for kids to play for a quarter a play. Some games included fishing game, lollipop tree, frog bean bag toss and duck pond.
School district acknowledgements were given to Mrs. Carol Makuta, Superintendent; Mr.Raymond Kinder, Assistant Superintendent; Mrs. Ruthann Gardiner, Director of Special Education; Mr. Stephen Toth, High School Principal; Mr. Tom McCabe, Assistant High School Principal; Mr. Christopher Czapla, Middle School Principal; Mr. Steven Behr, Elementary Schools Principal; Mr. J.J.
