Firefighters were called Saturday evening (March 15, 2014) to the Locust Ridge Wind Farm on the Brandonville Mountain in Mahonoy Township for a report of a turbine on fire. They arrived to a fully-involved fire.
Mahanoy City and other area firefighters remained on scene as a precaution until the fire burned out.
According to Wikipedia, the Locust Ridge Wind Farm consists of 64 (two megawatt) wind turbines – capable of powering 64,000 homes.
