Today (Sunday, March 16, 2014) marks the second day of the Tuscarora Remote-Controlled Flying Club model airplane show. About 2 dozen remote-controlled aircraft will be on display today from 10 AM to 5 PM at the Fairlane Village Mall in Pottsville. The display also includes a R/C simulator anyone can try.
“I joined because this was something I always wanted to do and never had time,” said enthusiast Tim Vincent, who has been a member for 3 years and owns 3 model planes. Vincent said that some people like to build more than fly, while others like to fly more than build. He added that learner planes can be built in as little as 10 hours.
Member Randy Green, of Ashland, said that the planes are made with very light woods, such as balsa wood, bass wood and lite spruce wood. He continued saying,” It is inevitable. You will crash. Every R/C hobbyist realizes that.”
Randy Grube, New Ringgold, who owns 12 planes said that people, like him, join the sport for the enjoyment and challenge.
