McCann School of Business & Technology Hazleton Campus will be hosting their 9th Annual McCann Madness event tomorrow (Friday, March 14, 2014). The competitive format is designed to teach juniors and seniors about career opportunities, while allowing them to have competitive fun with other schools. It will take place from 9 AM to 1:30 PM.
260 high school students from across the region will be participating. Schools include CCTI; CMAVTS; Hanover; Hazleton Area Career Center; Jim Thorpe; Marian; Northwest; Panther Valley; Shenandoah Valley; and Weatherly.
The students will also take part in a trivia event highlighting 10 career areas that will not only educate them about different occupations, but will also test their knowledge in areas such as Allied Health, Technology, Criminal Justice, Business, and Trades. Each student participating in the competition will receive a free lunch and a t-shirt. There will be a variety of prizes the students can win and a trophy will be awarded to the winning team that places first in the contest.
“This is an event that we look forward to every year,” said Lori Kane, Community Relations. “It is a fun way to learn about different careers and the kids have a blast. The best part is that it may direct them to a career path that they may not have thought of before.”
