Joining the crusade to find a cure for cancer, event organizers Mary Ann Dulaney and her daughter Jessica Kutza, both of Coaldale, have been working non-stop preparing for the 15th annual Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society Chinese Auction set for Sunday (March 23, 2014) at the Lakeside Ballroom in Barnesville. Both Dulaney and Kutza, who’ve worked together to organize the action for nine years, stressed, “In addition to helping fight cancer, the event will serve as a fun afternoon the entire family can enjoy.”
The auction starts at noon, with drawings beginning at 3 PM sharp.
Co-coordinated through the efforts of the Tamaqua-Carbon ACS CancerTelethon.org Committee, the event will involve over 600 prizes; to include a $1,000 cash prize, 32-inch high-definition television, Orlando Vacation, laptop computer, Apple IPad. gas gift card, a Kindle, homemade crafts, gift cards for fuel oil, Phillies tickets, Nascar tickets and gift cards to area restaurants.

Kutza stressed that all the proceeds of the auction will go to the American Cancer Society, adding that money needed to rent the Lakeside Ballroom was raised via a craft and vendor show they organized in September. The proceeds from the event will be presented during the annual ACS Telethon set for April 5 and 6 at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe. In addition to being broadcasted live on BRC TV-13 and Service Electric Cable TV. Committee members stressed that the public is encouraged to stop by Penn’s Peak and enjoy all the live entertainment.
“We’ve gotten so many surprise gifts,” said Kutza. “That motivates us even more to keep going. The amount of community support is truly amazing.”
“Join the crusade to find a cure,” said Delaney. “As a community, we can make a difference.”
