Today (Friday, Feb. 28, 2014) marked the last business day for the Union Bank and Trust Company branch in New Philadelphia. For decades, the branch served as the borough’s only financial institution.
A sign on the front door of the branch, 84 Valley Street (US209), reads:
“Effective February 28, 2014 at 11:59 PM, this Union Bank and Trust Company office will be closed.”
The sign added that Union Bank and Trust Company customers may continue to conduct banking business at any other Union Bank and Trust Company office, and several Riverview Bank offices, including but not limited to the following locations:
– Union Bank and Trust Company (UBT) offices at 308 N. Claude A Lord Boulevard (Route 61) in Pottsville and West Market and 22nd Street (Yorkville) in Pottsville.
– Riverview Bank offices at 121 North Progress Avenue (Losch Plaza) in Pottsville and Villages at Deer Lake (100 Hollywood Boulevard) in Orwigsburg.
The message ends,” We regret any inconvenience this may cause our valued customers, and we sincerely hope you will visit us at one of our convenient locations listed above.”
