Emergency personnel from both Carbon and Schuylkill County worked in 15 degree temperatures early this morning (Feb. 26, 2014) to battle a duplex fire along the first block of East Kline Avenue in Lansford.
Firefighters were called to 22 East Kline Avenue just before 2 AM for a report of a working structure fire. Firefighters near the scene stated they saw flames and heavy smoke emanating from the duplex when they arrived on scene.
A male neighbor across from the fire praised both the police and fire companies for their actions, adding that they were very professional and had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.
Dispatched were firefighters from Lansford, Summit Hill, Coaldale, Tamaqua, Tuscarora and others.
Also responding were Lansford Police, Coaldale Police, Summit Hill Police, Summit Hill/Lansford Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), Tamaqua RIT and Lehighton Ambulance.
Adjacent neighbors said they don’t think anyone lived in either home or know if the duplex had power.
Most of the damage appeared to be in the lower front rooms and porch of 22 East Kline Avenue.
Fire Police controlled traffic away from area roads Route 902 due fire hoses stretched across the road.
It is too soon to know the cause of the fire as firefighters were still on scene as of 4 AM.
