Residents are Majestic House Apartments in Tamaqua as firefighters worked to battle an apartment fire on a third floor of the apartment building.
Fire Departments from Tamaqua and surrounding units are on scene. The fire call came out before 9:30 AM today (Feb. 23, 2014).
Volunteers with the Tamaqua Salvation Army and Tamaqua Volunteers group are asking the public for donations of blankets, sock and warm refreshments for the evacuated residents, who are staying inside the Tamaqua Rescue Squad. They ask that people kindly stay away from the scene. Donations can be dropped off at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 West Broad Street, right now. Call (570) 668-1234 for more information.
As of 12 PM, volunteers stated they have an “ok” supply of donations.
