Emergency personnel were called around 8:45 AM today (Feb. 19, 2014) for a multi-vehicle accident involving a garbage truck on the No. 11 Hill between Coaldale and Tamaqua. There were two accident scenes on the hill. Witnesses on scene said one or two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The road remained closed for over an hour while Tamaqua police, ambulance and firefighters tended to the people in the vehicles, and while tow crews removed the vehicles.
PennDOT and Tamaqua road crews also responded to lay down salt on the slick hill.
Around the same time, emergency crews were called to Owl Creek Road for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. I currently don’t have any information about that incident.
