Over 50 people took part in a community snowball battle yesterday (Feb. 16, 2014) at the Evan George Willing Memorial Park in Tamaqua. Organizers said the event was simply held to bring the community together.
Even though the event was free, organizers said participants were encouraged to donate a dollar for the fire victims of a house fire that occurred last month along Ben Titus Road in Rush Township.
The family-oriented event started off with a number of snow-related for the kids, followed by a few team-oriented fort-building activities and ending with a barrage of snowballs during the big free-for-all battle.
Volunteers stated the battle will get bigger and better every year. They added that the Guinness Record for the largest snowball fight was set in January 2013 with 5,834 people involved. Organizers hope to beat that record over time.
