Owners of Boyer’s Food Market in Tamaqua are hoping to purchase a section of land belonging to the Blue Raider Car Wash along Cedar Street. The car wash is owned by Mady Real Estate Company of Orwigsburg.
According to an article in today’s Times News newspaper, members of the Tamaqua Planning and Zoning Commission and related parties met yesterday (Feb. 10, 2014) to talk about the purchase. An attorney for Boyer’s said the part to be annexed, a grassy area of the car wash property, could be used for overflow parking in the future, or to expand the current store sometime in the future. They voted to continue the discussion until March’s meeting until all the requirements can be worked out.
Boyer’s Food Markets, Inc. operates supermarket locations all throughout Northeastern, PA. In 1949, Boyer’s was founded with a corner store in Orwigsburg by the late Harold S. Boyer.
