The King Coal Express, a special passenger excursion train run by the Reading and Blue Mountain Northern via their Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, sat idle for about an hour this evening along South Railroad Street in Tamaqua.
Although its reason for being in Tamaqua is unknown, it was definitely an attraction worth observing.
The special train consisted of a diesel locomotive, three private cars and a vista dome observation car.
Tamaqua Historical Society President Dale Freudenberger said he also saw this special train heading north through Tamaqua around 11 AM today. He added that it usually starts and ends in Port Clinton.
