Tamaqua’s weather forecast for today (Feb. 5, 2014) calls for 4 to 8 inches of snow, combined with sleet and freezing rain. Temperatures today will stay around 32 freezing mark.
Snow showers will be intermittent throughout the early morning. A wintery mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is predicted to hit our area between 5 AM and 11 AM. Light freezing rain will continue between 12 PM and 2 PM. The rest of the day will remain mostly cloudy with small chances of precipitation.
A winter storm warning is alerting everyone of the dangers of driving in these types of driving conditions.
Even after the accumulation, roads will remain or continue to freeze and make for very dangerous traveling conditions. In addition, frozen trees branches and power lines may also result in blackouts.
All area schools are closed for today.
Thursday’s weather is expected to be sunny with occasional cloud cover.
