PENN STATE OFFERING S.A.T. PREP COURSES

Penn State, Hazleton Campus, HazletonPenn State Hazleton is offering S.A.T. review courses to help prepare high school students for the college entrance exam. Separate courses will cover the math and verbal portions of the S.A.T. Students may register for one course or both courses.
Each six session, grade-free course is designed to give information about the current format of the S.A.T. and to instruct students in test-taking techniques and help them realize their full potential.
The courses also will focus on recommended order for taking the test, increased reading comprehension and understanding paired passages in the verbal section, copyrighted approached to solving analogy questions, familiarity with math grid and when to use a calculator in the math section, advantages and disadvantages of guessing, ways to cut the time needed to answer questions, and how the S.A.T.’s are scored, and how to compute a score on sample tests.
Important features of the programs include instructors who are approved by Penn State to teach the S.A.T. preparation course and who are fully qualified to effectively aid students in improving math and verbal skills, along with testing strategies; practical and relevant course materials for the current S.A.T.; homework assignments to complete between classes, and sample S.A.T. questions on practice tests.
The math part of the preparation course will be offered on Mondays, from March 10 through April 14, from 5 to 7 PM at the campus. The verbal part of the test will be offered on Thursdays, from March 13 through April 17, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM.
