Below freezing temperatures over the past month have resulted in a 13-inch layer of ice atop the lake at the Tuscarora State Park in Barnesville.
The average depth of the lake is about 20-30 feet, with a maximum depth of almost 60 feet at the dam.
Ice fisherman state that ice thicknesses of 4 inches or more are usually considered safe by most. They added that people should never go on the ice alone, no matter the thickness.
