The big thing on the Internet now involves people burning snow. Many of which state the snow turns black and won’t melt. Some even say they smell plastic.
Many conspiracy theorists are blaming this on global warming, secret government projects, pollution and so on.
I made this video to show everyone the truth behind the “burning snow conspiracy”.
My common sense conclusion:
1. The black color is simply the soot/residue from the fuel being used (IE butane or match).
2. The snow does melt. Try it yourself. It is hard to see on video.
3. The plastic smell is from the fuel being used.
(The more you pack the snow, the darker it will be when you “burn” it. Of course, tightly packed snow takes longer to melt than loosely packed snow.)
Seriously, try it yourself and you’ll see the same thing I just showed you.

That is what happens when science is not studied in the classroom.
