WIND CHILL ADVISORY TONIGHT TO NOON ON WEDNESDAY (15°F BELOW ZERO)

A wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight tonight (Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014) to noon tomorrow. Bitter cold and wind tonight will combine to create dangerously low wind chills throughout Tamaqua and local regions. This could cause frostbite to exposed skin and lead to hypothermia. Locations affected include Schuylkill County, Perry County, south-central mountains and a portion of the middle Susquehanna Valley. Hazard types consist of snow, then dangerously cold wind chills. Accumulations from the snow storm could total 3 – 6 inches. Wind chills could range from 15-20 below zero late tonight and Wednesday morning. Snow should be taping off before midnight.  Travel may be slowed significantly due to snow-covered roads and periods of poor visibility. Winds will travel north from 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Source: forecast.weather.gov.
