Organizers are taking sponsors and race applications for two Tamaqua area Charity Challenge races set for May 17 and August 31, 2014. Both races will consist of a 5K run, 5K walk and 1-mile kids fun run. The only difference is the location. May’s event will navigate the trails and terrain at Owl Creek Reservoir in Tamaqua. August’s event will start at Heisler’s Dairy Bar and stretch through the Lewistown Valley.

The event is billed as “the race to benefit everybody”, as every charity or non-profit organization can enter runners or walkers in the event and begin raising money for their cause by obtaining sponsors. All money raised will be retained by the organization raising it. AND, if you are feeling competitive, the overall race winner gets to choose where a lump sum of money will be donated by the Race Event!. So, get your members in the race, and start raising money OR just challenge yourself on this great course, with no sponsors needed. Organizers state, “Just have fun!”
Check the race website for complete information, registration forms, sponsor sheets, et., or contact Race Director Jon Bonner at (570) 778-6970 for more info and assistance. “We want to make this a rewarding and memorable experience for everyone,” said Bonner.
The event is sponsored by USA Martial Arts & Fitness of Tamaqua.
